TYNWALD
PRIMARY
SPORTS

Participating in sporting activities is a neccesity for every student at Tynwald primary; it is a form of physical education and a fundamental human right for all. Sport creates equal opportunity, nurtures talent and contributes to personal growth of the participants. The Department of Physical Education and Sport offer activities which includeathletics, cricket, hockey, golf, basketball, netball, swimming, rugby, soccer, tennis, table tennis and volleyball.

The sporting program is divided into infant sports and junior sports. Infants sports  are done on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week, where basic skills of movement, coordination, anticipation and reaction are taught. Junior sports are done every Monday to Thursday and more focus is currently being given to rugby, cricket, tennis and swimming as they have been recently introduced in the school. It is from this group that representatives of the school in various sporting desciplines are selected.

National and international sports tours are also organized by the sporting department to expose the students to sport at the highest level. In 2008 and 2010, Tynwald Primary School was invited to a sports festival at Westonia Combined School in Johannesburg, and the tennis, crricket, soccer, netball and hockey teams went and participated.
